Filename Convention

HDF Product File

The MODIS Atmosphere Level-3 Daily Global Product HDF (Hierarchical Data Format) file will always have one of the two following standardized filenames. The prefix MOD is reserved for files containing data collected from the Terra (AM) platform and MYD is reserved for files containing data collected from the Aqua (PM overpass) platform.

Note that the "Data Year and Julian Date" field corresponds to the start day of the month covered in the file.
